The next program in the Virginia Heritage Resource Center's Mining the
Treasure House lecture series will take place at noon on Tuesday, 20
January, 2004, in the conference rooms adjacent to the lobby in the
Library of Virginia at 800 East Broad Street in downtown Richmond.

The speaker will be Vince Brooks, Senior Archivist for Architectural
Records in the Archives Description Service Section at the Library of
Virginia. The title of his talk is, "Pardon Me: Executive Clemency in
Virginia, 1776 to the present." The Library holds petitions for clemency
and related papers sent to the Virginia's governor from the time of the
Revolution to the 21st Century. Brooks will discuss the history of
executive clemency powers in Virginia from 1776 to the present, and will
offer suggestions for navigating the files of the Governor's Office,
Secretary of the Commonwealth and related records using a number of
examples from the collection.

There is free underground parking for Library patrons. For more
information on this and other programs and services of the Library of
Virginia please visit the Library's web site at http://lva.lib.va.us or
call at 804-692-3592.
