I again have been asked about the Colonial Anglican Parish records of NC.
It has been erroneously written that no such records exist.

While I would like to learn from any of you of further extant colonial
parish records, thanks to Mr. Meekins at VA Library, Steve Case at NC
Archives, Marianne at  www.b4us.net and Terria Baynor,  I have in my
possession a copy of the vestry minutes of St. Paul's of Chowan (1701-1776)
and have learned that some of the records remain for St. Andrew's in Tyrrell
and for Southwest Parish of Pasquotank.  Then too, some of the Vestry Book
of St. John's of Beaufort for the years 1742ff remain, and portions of the
St. Peters registry also are available on film at BHM Library, though those
may may not be checked out, I am told.   Here is a list of parishes that DID
exist, at least in name and intention.
The Vestry Act of 1754 established the 24 parishes for the Colony.  (See
Chapter IV, 1754 Session laws, and see "Colonial Records of North Carolina"
(v 25, pp. 298-304).
