The pension records have a wealth of information, especially, if the widow
applied for a pension.

Has anyone found any information of value in War of 1812 military
records? All those I have obtained contain little more than verification
the man was there, possibly dates and pay info. Rev. War records
and records from the War Between the States, on the other hand, have
a wealth of information, sometimes including a physical description
of the applicant.
