Marriage of James Thompson & Cynthia Ann Chapman - 1849
(Pike County, KY.  File Number 1065)

This Marriage Record was transcribed from an "original" copy of the
record from the County Clerks office for Pike County, KY. without any
attempt to correct obvious errors in spelling.

To the onarebel Clerk of Pike County Court this is to sertify that I
have now objection to my son James Thompson obtaining Lisons of
mttaramony to marry Sinthy An Chapman Given under my hand this 15 Day
of March 1849.

This is to sertify to the onerbel Clerk of Pike County Court that I
have now objection to my Daughter syntha Ann Chapman obtain Lisens
of mattaramony to marry James Thompson Given under my hand this 15

Know all men by these presents that we James Thompson and Clay Farley
are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the
sum of 50 L for the payment whereof well and truly to be made,we bind
ourselves, our heirs etc. jointly and severally by these presents.
Sealed with our seals and dated the 19th day of March 1849.
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas a marriage
is shortly intended to be solemnized between the above bound James
Thompson and Cyntha A. Chapman now shall it always hereafter appear
that there is no just cause to obstruct said marriage then the above
obligation to be void else to remain in full force and virtue.

Pike County Cletks Office Sct.
I John D. Mims Clerk of the County Court for the County aforesaid do
Certify that James Thompson hath entered into bond and security to
procure licence to intermarry with Cyntha A. Chapman daughter of
Thomas Chapman of the County. Consent being legally given by Thomas
Chapman & John Thompson this shall therefore authorize you to join
in matrimony the said James Thompson and Cynthia A. Chapman and shall
warrant you for so doing In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and afix'd Seal this __Blank__ day of _____Blank______.

To any person legally authorized to solemnize the rite of matrimony.

I James Deskins one of the Justices appointed by the Pike County
Court to solemnise the rights of matrimony do certify that 24th day
of March 1849 that __ joined together according to the direction
within James Thompson & Syntha A. Chapman in the bonds of matrimony
according to law. Given under my hand this 24th day of March 1849.
