Salary Minimum $27,323 
The Library of Virginia is seeking three editorial research fellows for
the Dictionary of Virginia Biography project to do primary and secondary
source research for selection of biographies for inclusion in the
multivolume reference work, to research and write biographies, and to
assist in checking facts, indexing, and proofing.

Qualifications include comprehensive knowledge of Virginia and American
history, research methodologies and resources, and of the principles and
techniques of scholarly historical writing and publication. Excellent
researching, writing, communication and interpersonal skills required.
Good word processing and internet skills a must. Ability to work to a
schedule both independently or in collaboration with others and to pay
attention to details is required. Advanced degree in American history or
related field in humanities or equivalent professional experience
preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and
experience may substitute. Must pass a security background check.

Each applicant will be considered as applying for all three positions.
Recruitment will remain open until all positions filled. These are
fulltime, restricted positions with benefits funded for two years in
accordance with the grant through the National Endowment for the
Humanities.
