Karen,
I agree completely, but I have repeatedly met with passive resistance
when I have urged male Bowman relatives (and potential Bowman
relatives) to provide samples for DNA analysis.
At first I was puzzled by the reluctance of men to have their DNA
analyzed, but when I delved into my feelings, I began to suspect that
the reluctance may be due to a subconscious (or even conscious)
anxiety that the results may reveal a different ancestry than expected
("give surprises"). There may also be fears that the stored samples
may at a later time be analyzed for unintended purposes.
Regards,
Byron Bowman
