    I agree completely, but I have repeatedly met with passive resistance  
when I have urged male Bowman relatives (and potential Bowman  
relatives) to provide samples for DNA analysis.
    At first I was puzzled by the reluctance of men to have their DNA  
analyzed, but when I delved into my feelings, I began to suspect that  
the reluctance may be due to a subconscious (or even conscious)  
anxiety that the results may reveal a different ancestry than expected  
("give surprises"). There may also be fears that the stored samples  
may at a later time be analyzed for unintended purposes.
