In the Court Orders of 29 October 1782 on page 281

Franky Davis an infant by John Davis her next friend against James Donoho.  Suit dismissed by plantiff brought by her next friend aforesaid failed to proceed and it is ordered by the Court that the defendant recover against said John Davis his costs by him about his defense in the matter expended.  

Would next friend be her father? 

In the will of Obadiah Hendrix dated 26 April 1786 and proved 28 April 1788.  Witnesses were Waddy Thompson, Jesse (x) Davis, Fanny (x) Davis, Hannah (x) Davis, James Phillips. 

Could anyone enlighten me about these Davises of Cumberland County.  Looking for the parents of Jesse Davis.  Will appreciate any help.
