Hi, Tom.  "Real world"????  Not sure I know what you mean, and I do hope this mess around me shows I am living there. :-)

....  but is it "real world" applicable?

I presume you mean, are there applications for our explanations?   I reckon not, unless, that is, you intend to submit what you have learned and written to some judge/examiner who requires a measure of assuredness that the copy you have submited is a true one, or that you are not guilty of some chicanery or intention to deceive that judge.  If you do have such an intention, you beter supply what those folks want.
