Hi, Dear.  Here are the VA sites to which I am subscribed.  I do not know which is yours, however.  My experience is virtually none in N VA or in WV.  Sorry; I do, of course, know that the Harpers were the founders of that community.  I also recall that it gained great importance since the Arsenal was there in order that it be a great distance from any invader from the sea.

  I somehow have lost the Va. list address we are on. Can you send to me, 
  please? i want to submit a query for a friend in Seattle as she is from Harper's of 
  Harper's Ferry which was in that time frame in Va., not W. VA. I kept 
  searching and realized I was looking in wrong state.  What do you know about that 
  family if anything? I got on the Harper's Ferry web site and they mentioned a 
  Robert Harper who built the ferry etc. but nothing of family. You are my source 
  of knowledge as you have done more up there than I have.
