I suspect a connection to a Woods family of Virginia, but have never found
it.

My 4G-grandfather was James Wood (Woods) Culton, born December 15, 1778, in
Virginia. The Culton family were Irish and lived in Rockbridge County.
Their land was originally in Orange County, later in Augusta County, and finally
in Rockbridge. His family migrated to eastern Tennessee where he is found in
Blount, McMinn and Bradley counties before his death in 1863. He is buried
at Athens in McMinn County.

If any Wood(s) researchers happen to run into a connection to Culton, please
let me know. It could have come from his mother's side of the family.
Unfortunately, I have never determined his mother's name.

Larry Wilson
