Have you looked for Antoinette with nickname Nettie?

Henrietta is certainly another possibility, since N is commonly added
to nicknames beginning with vowels and semivowels (L and R). Thus
Ettie -> Nettie. However, the Henrietta you found had no children
living with her.

Have you considered Harriet, which is a variant of Henrietta? Any
name which includes -et or -ette is fair game.

Nettie could also have been used as a standalone name by the time she was born.

census say he was b. in D.C as was his parents. Some family info that I have
been given says he was from Alleghany Co., Va. I have searched the census but
cannot find a John Evans with a wife by the name of Nettie. Did find a John
Evans married to a Henrietta, 1870/80 Rockbridge Co., VA census, but they have
no children in their household. <snip>.With the given name of Robert Lee I
eel strongly that he was born in Virginia as is stated on his marriage record
hich has the names of his parents, John and Nettie. <snip>
