I am searching for information on the ancestors and wife of John Brett
(Britt) b. abt 1740 in Virginia, d. bet. 1791-1811 in GA. Wife's first
name is Esther (last name unknown).

John was known to be a surveyor and a Revolutionary War soldier. Early
documents show the family name as either Britt or Brett. The family name
was later consistently spelled Brett.

John may be the son of Martha and John Britt (d. abt 1775-1777 in
Southhampton CO., VA.) John may be the grandson of John Britt and either
his wife Catherine or his wife Susannah Bressie. The family may have lived
in Southhampton CO., VA.

I have really hit a stone wall with this ancestor.

Any help with this family would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Elaine Acree
