Until Kentucky became a sate in 1792, it was part of Virginia, so the wills may well still reside in Virginia. Even after that date, if an individual had interests in Virginia, the will may have been recorded there as well.

Subject: Might a Will be probated in VA if death occurred in KY before 1800?

Does anyone know if a will might be probated in VA if the death occurred in KY before 1800?

This person had large land holdings in KY and possibly in VA before going to KY.

Thanks, Linda
