My "blood" grandmother was Grace Claiborne. She married my Granddad, Leroy
Daughtry Moring in the late 1920's. Shortly after my Dad (Walter Lee
Moring) was born in 1930, she deserted the family and left my Dad to be
raised by Granddad and my Great Grandmother.

This has always been a bitter subject for my Dad to discuss. He knew
literally nothing of his Claiborne roots and cared zero about finding them
out.

Upon Grace's death about ten years ago, she left Dad a substantial sum of
$$$. Dad refused it and all but told them to "stick it in their ear". I
understand his scorn and had not given it much thought until I saw the 1930
census.

I discovered my Great Grandfather was Walter Lee Claiborne of P.E. County
and was 57 years old in 1930. My Granddad was listed in the household with
Grace and my Great Aunt Annie Claiborne (she helped raise my Dad too).
Obviously, Dad was named after W.L. Claiborne. I told Dad about this and he
is now open to finding out the info...personal heartaches aside.

This is about all I know. Does anyone have info on the family or clues
where to go next?

Thanks,
Paul M.
