I'm not looking to identify who each writer was. I'm looking to have these individual entries grouped by writer A, writer B, etc.

I suspect that amateur researchers with no background in handwriting have decided that entry 1 and entry 2 were written by the same person. And because they think they know who made entry 1, they now assume they know who wrote entry 2, which identifies the writer as a son or gson of "X Hatcher." If they are wrong, they have the wrong person connected as a son or gson.........which really messes up your tree and creates a messier brick wall :-)
