Thanks Paul. Sometimes a parish used 2 vestry books
for the same time period. One told to whom the church
paid money and for what and when. The other told who
paid what, why and when to the church. Not every
vestry book is available. Court order books were also
copied for some of the counties.

Check the LDS site familysearch.org and click
on "catalog". You then have the option to type in each
state and county and see what is available. Some of
the records are in book form, others are on microfilm
which can be rented from your local FHC. Check the
yellow pages for 1 near you. Major genealogy libraries
have some of them, which can be borrowed on
interlibrary loan.

These books sometimes explain the divisions of the
parish and tell when they occured and what areas the
parish covered during what time period.

No one book or even library has everything for every
county in every state. Once you locate your ancestor
with in a county, a combintion of court records, tax
records, vestry books, and maps are very helpful.
Example:

An ancestor was located on a headright list in Orange
....
