Recently, the e-mail server for Va-Roots and Va-Hist began individually
notifying people who submit messages that the message has come to me a
list moderator. I do not know why those messages started going out or
had not previously gone out, but it is routine procedure on the
moderated discussion lists that the Humanities Network sponsors.

Ever since we converted Va-Roots and Va-Hist to fully moderated lists,
all of the messages come first to me (or if I am out of town, to a
substitute) for review before posting to the full list. We do not censor
messages, but we sometimes find personal messages inadvertently sent to
the full list, and in those instances I alert the sender and ask that
the message be sent privately. (I, myself, inadvertently let one
personal message go through recently, so nobody's perfect.)

If you send a message to the list and receive that automated message
that it has been forwarded to the moderator, all that means is that the
message has been received. You do not have to do anything else, and you
do not have to do anything differently.
