Gayle Garrett,

I don't know if this will help or not, but a large number of families from
Pocahontas Co (then VA, now WV) migrated to Appanoose and some to Monroe in
the late 1840s and early 1850s. Although it appears Harvey went to Indiana
first, I wonder if he went to Appanoose/Monroe later because he had
friends/family here. There were definitely McCoy families in Poca. and its
parent counties Bath & Augusta (VA), but I don't have any reference to
Harvey in my books. Unfortunately he is not named in any Bath co wills
1791-1875. Also, a large number of Bath young men went to Indiana,
generally around Tippecanoe & Carroll counties, in the 1830s - perhaps he
was part of that migration.

Have you seen his death certificate? It should name his parents.
