Marriage of Alexander Runyon & Sarah Starr - 1827
(Pike County, KY., Marriage Book 1, Page 59, File #168)

This Marriage Record was transcribed from an "original" copy of the
record from the County Clerks office for Pike County, KY. without any
attempt to correct obvious errors in spelling. Also I will not try to
explain the obvious problem of the date of marriage in this record.

This is to certify that I Adam Runyon Sen'r. have given my consent
that the Clerk of Pike County may grant a licence of Marriage between
my son Alexander Runyon and Miss Sarah Starr by her consent a free
agent given under my hand this 7th day of July 1827.

This is to certify that I have given my consent that the Clerk may
issue the above named licence in presence of the above witnesses.

Know all men by these presents that we Alexander Runyon and John
Rutherford are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of
Kentucky in the sum of fifty pounds Lawful money to which payment
well and truly to be made we bind ourselves and each of our heirs
severally firmly & jointly by these presents sealed with our seals
and dated this 17th day of July 1827.
The condition of the above obligation are such that whereas there is
a marriage shortly intended to be held and solemnized between
Alexander Runyon and Sarah Star of this County if therefore there
shall be no Lawfull cause to obstruct said marriage the above
obligation to be void else to remain in full force and virtue.
