I received two of these messages that started out with "HI, How are you"
and had an "exe" file attached to the first one and a "doc.bat" file
attached to the other. Both messages came from an address on AOL, and
originated in Korea. That is not to say that the hacker was in Korea, but
that is where my messages came from.

The wording in the message made it appear that it was someone who was
unfamiliar with the English language, and was possibly Oriental, but that
too could have been a ruse to mislead the recipient.

Fortunately, I have made it a habit to NEVER, NEVER open attachments unless
they are in response to my request. Not even from friends and relatives.
Also fortunately, I am using a MacIntosh, which is not as prone to hackers
as P.C.'s

Read the heading on all messages. If it's from overseas, it will have the
country of origin in the ":from" address sometimes.Such as "AOL ko or kr"
for korea.

However, my last one was from" [log in to unmask]" If you receive a
message from him, in relation to another individual, and it contains an
attachment - trash it right away. Here again, he may not have sent it, but
it came from his computer address book..

My messages came from someone using AOL for a server, so another caution -
If it comes from an AOL user, use caution if youn do not know the sender.
