I am looking for proof that my Thomas Bayne married Elizabeth JONES. I have
found This:

Loudoun Co., Va., Deed Book N, Part II, pp. 374-79, 6 Sept. 1782. Elsworth
[sic] Bayne and Susannah of Prince George's Co. Md. to George Brent of
Fauquier Co., Va., £200, 150 acres in Loudoun Co., being part of a large tract
surveyed by George West by virtue of a writ of ad quod damnum on 28 June 1770,
on Goose Creek, adjoining Enoch Triplett. Witnesses John Stonestreet, Henry
Owsley, Thomas Bayne, Sarah Jones.

Does anyone have any info on Jones in this county? Thank you so very much.
Are there any more deeds for BAYNEs and specially Thomas BAYNE? Are there any
tax records for 1782? and is Thomas listed?

Here is their family group sheet:

My source is Hank Peden's book, the others you mention are his references
included in his book. From his book, page 17:

"BEAN, Thomas. Sergeant, Militia, 26th Battalion, Capt. Benjamin
Cawood's Company, 1777 (Ref: Clements, S. Eugene and Wright, F. Edward "The
Maryland Militia in the Revolutionary War", Silver Spring, MD: Family Line
Publications, 1987, pg 162).
Resident of Port Tobacco East Hundred in 1778 (Ref: Brumbaugh, Gaius M.

volumes, pg 297/Archives of Maryland, Volume XLVIII "Journal and
Correspondence of the State Council of Maryland, 1781-1784" Baltimore:
Maryland Historical Society, 1931).
Thomas Bean and several others petitioned the Council of Maryland in 1783
stating that he had not taken the Oath of Allegiance due to any disaffection
with the government, but from a variety of incidents, and was unjustly
penalized as a non-juror and fined unfairly; therefore, he asked the council
ot consider
ordering the county Justices to remit the fines they imnposed on him and
others who signed
the petition. The Council of Maryland, after reviewing his case, indicated
they
believed the truth of the facts stated in the petition and ordered a
remission of the fines and penalties on Sept. 17, 1783 (Ref: Archives of
Maryland, Vol.XLVIII
"Journal and Correspondence of the State Council of Maryland, 1781-1784"
Baltimore: Maryland Historical Society, 1931, pg 454)."

There were no references to Ebsworth.

There are only two possibilities -- Thomas Bayne, son of Ebsworth and Thomas
Bayne, brother of Ebsworth.

I have a reference to the son being in Frederick County, Maryland in 1776.
The Uncle was still in Prince George's County, Maryland. I think I have a
reference to the Uncle in a census in 1776 and we know it's him due to his age.
My initial vote is for the Uncle, but I'll have to dig out other records to
be sure.

PS -- there is not a single record to another Thomas other than the son or
the brother of Ebsworth.

it?)

Dear Donna,

I've been off the air for the past ten days so forgive my delay.

The 20-page booklet was obtained from Kirk C. Jenkins from Pacifica, CA;
author unknown. Its first generation is Henry W. BAYNE (1810-1895), my
maternal GGG-grandfather. He was born in KY and died in Andrew Co., MO. He
married Anna Mariah LOVLACE in 1829 in Bullitt Co., KY; they lived in IN
for several years, then moved to MO ca 1843.

The booklet traces BAYNEs to the immigrant ancestor, Walter, who landed in
VA and moved to MD ca 1637, and BAYNE ancestors in Surrey and other counties
in England.

My book index lists 28 BAYNEs and my PAF 3.0 files lists many more. The
book is out of print but is on microfilm at the Mormon geni place at Salt
Lake City.

I have not seen the book by Margaret Bean Langley. I have never heard of
Margaret Ryan.

Hi Donna:

I'm going to answer this off the top of my head because I am out the door
for a business trip to Seattle until next Tuesday. I have a web development
company, www.netchannel.com, so my time for genealogy has been very limited
for the last three years.

1. No source, just logic. As we know that Thomas and Sarah lived in
Bullitt County, it would make sense that their children were married there.
However, if any other evidence appears that suggests that this Henry belongs
somewhere else, I'll drop this theory like a hot potato.

2. I didn't find a copy of Ebsworth's will and now suspect that I never had
an original.

3. I have no reference to Margaret Ryan, or anyone else with that surname.
I'd have to see some sort of proof on a deed or will or something.
However, I may start keeping my eyes open for Ryans in case she got it off
of a will or something.

4. I think we also know that Thomas' wife was Elizabeth through some deeds
and other sources.

5. The only new thing on the Redmans, which I may have told you is that I
believe that early Nelson County pioneeer Redmans -- John Sr., John Jr.,
Thomas, and Ann (who married Coonrod Walters) were from Loudoun County,
Virginia (at least in the 1760s and 70s) and were descendants somehow of
Andrew Redman who died and left a will in Loudoun County. (Ann was probably
the daughter named). Nothing new on George Brewer -- need to check more in
Shelby County, Kentucky as he shows up in 1804 Nelson County tax list as
delinquent, removed to Shelby County. On the Friends, nothing new (you know
about Peter Craigs work tracing them to New Sweden, don't you?) and the next
step is to get more information on Isaac Friend Sr., who dies in Hardin
County, Kentucky in 1810. Ashcraft -- I have a letter from a descendant of
Richard through a daughter who married a Dodson. I haven't had time to
answer yet, so I don't know if she can add anything new to the research.

What's your connection to these families again?

David

Donna, Do you know when Susannah Bayne died, Charles's Wife. I see in
the 1810 Census that he had a wife at that time, and he didn't marry
Elizabeth McDougal until 1819. It also shows he had children then a son
under 10 and 2 males 26-45 along with a daughter age 16 -26 and a F age
26-45
I wonder who they were?
Shirley
