  Could someone please tell me what ad or ads means when used in the following
  manner?

  1764 Dooley, Thomas  ads Kindol, William  7  113  174

  1754 Powell, Honorias ads Mitchell, John   6 47


  These are lines I found on microfilm of Orange County, VA Order books. I'm
  sure it must stand for something simple and obvious but I can't think what!
