Robert Harper b. 1718 Oxford Township PA d. 1782 Harpers Ferry VA was the son of Joseph Harper b. 1673 Noke Oxfordshire Eng. d.1746 Philadelphia PA and Sarah (Jackson) Moore and the grandson of John Harper b. 1623 Noke Oxfordshire Eng d. 1716 Oxford Township PA. and Ann Butcher of King Sulton North Hamptonshire Eng.
The Harpers were Quakers who immigrated in 1682 on the ship Welcome with 7 of their 8 children arriving in PA before William Penn. John Harper settled and named Oxford Township PA.
Robert Harper was a Philadelphia builder who contracted to build a Quaker meeting house near Winchester VA.in 1747 Crossing the Potomac at a small ferry operation run by Peter Stephens, Robert later bought the ferry and surrounding land and expanded the operation.
Robert Harper married Rachel Griffith, they died without descendants.
