I am not sure what the original message was about but the name of Buckner
caught my eye. Although not totally for sure. I believe that I am a
descendent of a brother of Simon Bolivar Buckner. I am trying to further
research my family to make sure of this connection. I believe that Henry
Watson Buckner was the father of Simon Bolivar Buckner and my ancestor Joel
Mann Buckner b. 1820 died 1863 in the Civil War. He married Minerva Malvina
Hawkins b. 1828 in Hart County and had several children. One of his sons
John Henry Buckner b. 1845 was my ancestor. He moved to Linn County
Missouri before 1860 and after 1850. He died in the 1920s. I would love to
get more information or confirm facts regarding these Buckners. I also
believe that the family originally came from Virginia. I am really looking
for primary sources. Since your family was friend with the Buckners perhaps
you know something I don't know.

Thanks,

Lynn Buckner

Hi, Sarah.

Try Bedford County, Virginia. It's a guess. My ancestor Jeremiah Dawson (b.
1763) was originally from Bedford County. Was awarded land in Kentucky as
pay for military service in the Revolutionary War. One of his descendants
married Zachariah Green & Mary Buckner Mumford's son, William Arthur.

I know that the Dawsons were friends with the Greens, Mumfords and Buckners
in Hart County. What if they all came from the same part of Virginia, though
at different times? It's an idea, anyway.

A famous Buckner:

My father's great-aunt (a Dawson) used to sit for him when he was a baby in
Munfordville.

Best,
SJ
