In response to several comments from Va-Hist and Va-Roots subscribers
about missing messages as a consequence of Spam Filters, our excellent
Rose Schooff asked me to post this recommendation (substituting VA-HIST
for VA-ROOTS as needed):

Many spam filters employ a whitelist of allowed sites but each filter
implements this in a different way. So, catering for one flavour of
filter doesn't necessarily guarantee success with another one.

Some variation of 'LISTLVA.LIB.VA.US' in the allowed sites should do the
trick. Each user will have to experiment on their own.

A subscriber can enable putting VA-ROOTS in the subject line of emails
by sending an e-mail to the LISTSERV command address
[log in to unmask] and putting the following in the body:

SET VA-ROOTS SUBJ

Make sure nothing else is in the email - no subject line or signature
lines.

This will set a subscription to Subject Header which inserts [VA-ROOTS]
into the subject line.
