In Frederick Co., VA John Chambers' will was administered by John Frost - 8
Jun 1748. I find no other documents re: John until 1762 when an appraisal
is recorded in the Fred. Co. court records for John Chambers.

In the experience of the VA-List what possibility is there that it took 14
years to settle his estate in this wilderness area?

Question two: His minimal possessions included the usual plow, mare, chest,
jacket, breeches....a tomhawk (that's how it is spelled in the docoument)
and the one thing that I am curious about .....a cage. Would cage be
synonymous with trap? Surely they trapped animals for their fur but why
would be the use of a cage and why would it be identified outside the farm
structures?

Look forward to your thoughts.
M. Preston
