Throughout most of the period 1650-1725 the value of tobacco was set for the Virginia colony - "price fixing", as we have tried many times - at 2p (two pence) per lb..  That would be equal to about $1.50 per lb. now.

    Hi Paul, thanks for helping me out again.  Now, what was the cost of 500
  lbs of tobacco in SS VA in 1705.   I guess a better way to but it would be
  what was the cost of a lb tobacco in Surry CO VA 1705.
