My brick wall is John H. (possible middle initial) MORRIS who married
Rebecca CHAPMAN on 01 Aug 1820 in Augusta Co., VA. He was born between
1791-1800, probably in the state of Virginia. I have him on the 1830 and
1840 Census of Augusta county, but he's nowhere to be found on the 1850.
His wife, Rebecca, was the daughter of William CHAPMAN and Sarah ALPHIN
CHAPMAN. The CHAPMANS lived in Augusta county in Waynesborough, but
originated from Albemarle Co., VA.
I only know of two children born to John and Rebecca MORRIS. They were
Jennie (spelling?) who married Dave WARD and my gg grandmother, Frances
Jane, who married Henry K. DETTOR. My gg grandparents were in Washington
Co., VA in 1860 and by 1880 in Lafayette Co., MS. Frances Jane died there
c. 1884 and Henry died in Panola Co., MS in 1908. I haven't a clue what
happened to Jennie and Dave WARD.
Any help appreciated.
