Hello Fellow Starr researchers,

Today I was at the Library of Virginia "STARR Fishing", regretfully
I didn't find anything new on this trip.

However, I did finally put one STARR question to rest, at least to
my satisfaction!! I looked up the original microfilmed marriage
record for John Starr of Logan Co.WV. & his second wife, Rebecca Ann
Spence, married in Tazewell Co.VA. July 17,1868 and the name of John's
father,at least in this marriage record,is definately "Conrad Starr"!!

This was determined by comparing the letters in the name to letters
in other names on the list of marriages. The writing is very clear &
strong, but the letters are not well formed which is the reason that
it was necessary to compare them with other known letters in the list,
but after close study the name, in my opinion, is definately "Conrad".

Which means, of course, that the name of the father of John's brother,
James, is also "Conrad Starr"!!

I recommend that any doubters check this record as well, for instance
compare the letters in "Conrad" to known letters such as "n" in the
name "Ann" & "r" in the name "Margaret" (those two names are only an
example, there are several more that can also be used to compare),the
rest of the letters in "Conrad" are clearly formed.

In the marriage record, the parents of John are written as "Conrad &
Elizabeth Star". By the way, for some unknown reason, the couple are
marked as "col", meaning colored. Wonder if the dark complexion and
black curly hair of a great many of the STARR's could be the reason??
