Hi Ralph,

There truly was a John Shugar who served in the Surry Militia. He married
Elizabeth the widow of Thomas Clay. This Elizabeth was first married to John
Mason who died by May 2, 1667. Following John Mason's death she married Thomas
Clay and then thirdly she married John Shugar. Later on you will find the name
John Shugar in the Isle of Wight records.
