Hello the list: re the inquiries of Ellison/Farley/Blankenship families in
Greenbrier County: I have the declaration of James Ellison, in which he
states the following:
James Ellison was born 20 Sept., 1757 in Mansfield, Burlington Twp., New
Jersey. He was the son of James Ellison and Ann English. His wife was
Elizabeth Farley. In 1768 he moved to Augusta Co. Va. with his father. In
1771 he moved to Greenbrier County Va. (the portion that is now Monroe Co.).
This may answer some of the questions posed. There are a few other
interesting bits and pieces.  He served as an Indian spy for several years;
he was captured and wounded and escaped. If anyone is researching the
Andrew Donnally family in Augusta>Greembrier?Kanawha, please contact me.
Thanks in advance. Ann in Sarasota
