I am trying to establish when JASPER HOLMES migrated from Charlotte County to Charles City County VA.  He was reportedly born in Charlotte County circa 1841 and lived in slavery until 1865.  He appears in 1866 and 1867 Charlotte County tax lists.  He appears in the 1870 federal census in Charles City, married with several children.  Birth and death records for his children report that at least two were born in Charlotte County in 1872 and 1874, but tax records do not indicate that Jasper lived there during this period.  Is there anyone with access to CCCo tax lists who could confirm his presence after 1867?  Further, can anyone recommend a researcher in Charles City County?  Many thanks.
