Marion Milhouse Crenshaw and family, wife - Elizabeth, d/o Richard Henry Lloyd of Alexandria, and daughter, Marian L.Crenshaw, are listed in the 1920 census at 1705 Massachusetts Ave. in DC. (Richard Lloyd was a wealthy man; his daughter, Mary - by 1st wife, Mary - married Cassius F. Lee. Abraham Lincoln was Lloyd's lawyer! We are not talking welfare here.)
In the 1910 census the Crenshaw family is listed at the Presbyterian Home in DC. Could this have been located at 1705 Mass. Ave?
I googled Presbyterian Home and did not find a satisfactory answer to the obvious question...what was the purpose of this Home. Health care, indigent, intermediary housing? Doesn't make sense that Richard Lloyd's daughter would be in public housing. His property in the 1870 census had been valued at $150,000.
Can anyone enlighten me?
