Ah, BUT, he was the junior physician who wanted to try a tracheotomy that had been experimentally done in Europe but never in the U.S.  He probably would not have prevailed in today's world against his seniors either.  Later, one of the other two said that Dr. Dick had been right but, by then, they had buried their patient.
