Lloyd deWitt Bockstruck to Speak at Slatten Lecture,

 September 22, 2012

What do uxornecronyms, lost records, marks as signatures and the pre-Revolutionary War Pittsburg Payrolls have in common? They are all subjects for discussion when the Friends of the Virginia State Archives present the 13th annual Slatten Lecture on Saturday, September 22, 2012, beginning at 8:30 a.m., at the Library of Virginia, 800 East Broad Street, Richmond.

Lloyd deWitt Bockstruck, one of the most sought after lecturers for annual seminars of local and state genealogical societies, will present four lectures during the day-long program. Bockstruck, author of numerous books and articles appearing in professional library and genealogical publications, is well known as the author of Virginia Colonial Soldiers (1988). Noted genealogist Elizabeth Shown Mills says that Bockstruck "is synonymous with modern genealogical education. His dry wit, wide range of subject matter, and fail proof knack of imparting exactly the kind of information his audiences need-all combine to guarantee a full house at Bockstruck's lectures and seminars...."

Join the Friends of the Virginia State Archives on September 22 at the Library of Virginia. The cost for FSVA members is $35, nonmembers $50. Lunch is included when you pre-register. Checks should be made payable to Friends of the Virginia State Archives and mailed to P.O. Box 4804, Richmond, VA 23220.
