Dear colleagues,

I received an email questioning approval of a book notice from a list
member. Honestly, I assumed folks would want to know about new books,
but there was a concern regarding commercial use of the list. Brent
tells me that we have indeed restricted some purely commercial
announcements for books in the past.

I guess the fear has been that mass emails of lists of books might
appear, but I believe that we can reasonably limit such messages.

Let's try to stick to announcing new scholarship, rather than posting
"for sale" items. It might also make sense for the person posting to
give contact information and request that interested parties contact
them directly, thus preserving the bandwidth of the list. Perhaps it
also would be useful to put a header in the subject line such as "New
Book."

All thoughts welcome.

Gregg
