Marlene,

Had General Lee not surrendered to General Grant at Appomattox, he and his troops
would have, in a short period of time, been reduced to fighting a guerilla war
against the North.

The South did not win the war, technically or otherwise. There are some who would
claim that we (the South) did win. There are also some who would claim that
Hitler did not exterminate 6 million Jews and millions of other groups (Gypsies,
etc.) Such claims are preposterous. Treat such claims as you would treat
questionable direct mail or telephone solicitation: "If it sounds to good to be
true, it probably is."
