I have Caleb Henry Hatcher marrying in 1836 with the consent of his 
guardian, George W Watkins, who is his uncle.

My question - if Caleb's mother is still alive, would she not have the 
primary responsibility for giving consent to her son's marriage? Or does 
it matter to the courts whether mother or guardian gives consent?
