I'm new to this list and have been enjoying all of the discussions going on. I am researching the Shaver/Shaffer line and all the varied spellings. I am trying to find the parents and siblings of Daniel Perry Shaver/Shaffer. Daniel was born 20 Sep 1809 in Shenandoah County. He married Nancy Sarah Kelley/Kelly 12 Mar 1833 (family Bible says 1830 but county marriage records say 1833). Daniel died 16 Oct 1882 in Shenandoah County and is buried at Cedar Grove Cemetary. He was the first person to be buried there. He and Sarah had 7 children, all of whom we have their information. We just can't find Daniel's parents and siblings.
There is some thought that Jacob Shaffer/Sheffer who immigrated from Darmstettlerland, Germany may be his grandfather. However, there were 26 children from Jacob's two marriages and we haven't been able to make a connection yet. I was wondering if there might be someone out there who would have any ideas or information about this family.
Daniel was my grgrgrandfather (paternal). Sarah was the daughter of James Kelley/Kelly and Hannah Kearns/Keeran (daughter of Thomas). Sarah was born 17 Jan 1810 and died 17 Aug 1885 in Shenandoah County. Not sure of her place of birth but assume it was Shenandoah County.
