I am a new member to this list and after reading the post from Mr.
Richards I was curious enough to check the Archives to see what it was all about. I see there was, in my opinion, a serious "rush to judgment" in as much as the remark someone made about Obama wearing his hat backwards. I too noticed this on TV and I must admit that I wished that our President elect would act a bit MORE presidential. Wishing he looked more presidential even on a beach somewhere is not in the least a racial comment. I returned from Europe last week where I spent Christmas and New Years. I eventually became quite annoyed when European friends and just ordinary people I met on a bus or a taxi driver(they dearly love to talk to Americans) ask me If I liked having a President who "thought" he was an arrogant rock star or some center fold model (their words - not mine). I truly respect the office of the United States President and have always refrained from making negative remarks no matter which party he represents. I pray for his success as do the rest of you on this list. Calling someone a Racist without even knowing this person, is a Racist of the highest degree and was used a lot during the battle for the presidency. It seemed everyone was scared to death of saying a negative thing about Obama for fear they would be labeled a "Racist".

'Nuff said - don't want to start another wave of negative comments.

My family roots run deep in Virginia as do they in the New England area. I have enough DAR Patriots and others who have fought for our freedom to know how much we have to loose if we forget WHO we are as Patriotic Americans and remember why we are a free society and what it is going to take to remain a Free Society. The men who wrote our Constitution had to have had an insight as to what we Americans were going to eventually face because we became complacent and lazy - totally forgetting that our cost for freedom was a dear price that our military, through the years, have paid.... These men are now shifting nervously in their graves wondering if their ultimate sacrifice has all been for naught.

I wish the best 2009 for everyone on this list and hope I may ask your advise or perhaps help me in the near future to run down some of my Virginia roots.
