I wonder if perhaps your name "Carwile" could be a corruption of "Cardwell", a family that
lived in Henrico and surrounding counties, including Goochland. The Cardwell family intermarried
with the Perrin family who also intermarried with the Bailey family and the court document involving
the Carwiles of Campbell County mentions that William Carwile had a descendant named who had married
a Perrin. As you no doubt know, it seems that cousins had a special affinity to one another during
the early period and you find the same families emigrating together and intermarried over and over.
This is perhaps a long shot, but since so many people were illiterate the names sometimes
changed. If you have no other leads, you might like to check the Cardwell family of Goochland?
It is closer than the name on the Revolutionary War pension. You deserve a gold star for finding
that pension!
