I need to make a correction to my earlier message. It now seems
certain that the William Davidson who purchased land from the John
and Elizabeth Murray family in Botetourt Co., VA in 1774 was NOT the
William Davidson who married Martha Baker. The William Davidson
who bought that land in 1774 (which became part of Rockbridge Co., VA
as of 1778), and who built a home there circa-1775, was instead an
unrelated William Davidson from PA who married first Sarah McCoy and
second the widow Mrs. Elizabeth (Wilson) McCrea.

The William Davidson who married Martha Baker apparently did not
leave the Buckingham/Prince Edward Co., VA area and move to
Botetourt Co., VA until about 1782, when he purchased land there from
John Greenlee. It was apparently just a coincidence that one of William
and Martha (Baker) Davidson's sons named Reverend Andrew Baker
Davidson eventually owned the above home in Rockbridge Co., VA that
had been built by the unrelated William Davidson circa-1775.
