The Library of Virginia is pleased to announce that the first digital
images, covering the years 1816-1857, from the Scott County chancery
causes digitization project have been added to the Chancery Records
Index <blocked::http://www.virginiamemory.com/collections/chancery/> .
The Scott County chancery index covers the years 1816 through 1942. This
initial batch of images highlights a free African American mother's
struggles to free her children from slavery and the strained
relationship between Native Americans and early settlers of Scott
County.
