David Munro (1605 – 1649) was born in Katewell, Ross & Cromarty, Scotland,
died in 1649 in Westmoreland Co, VA, married Agnus Munro (1605 – 1675). David
fought at the Battle of Preston in 1648 in Lancashire, Eng. and "immigrated"
to America the same year as a prisoner of the Colony of Virginia.
Son, Andrew, is said to have been "banished" to Virginia, arriving on The
Ark and The Dove in 1648...after also participating in the Battle of
Preston.
This family is part of the Munro Clan of Scotland....Barons for some 400
years, beginning with Hugh, born 1095.
If someone can further explain the banishment/prisoner element I would be
most interested in your reply. Is it correct to assume they were arrested
for their military actions against the English crown and sent to America for
punishment?
M. Preston
