Here you go: http://lewis187.home.mchsi.com/Weaver/Hite-1.htm Lists the 15 families who came to VA with him from PA. In fact, almost anything you'd want to know about Jost Hite! However, the original families came from PA. Because he had such large land grants in the Shenandoah Valley, many settled on his lands. Among the original group is Benjamin Borden who also had large VA land grants in the same area and attracted more settlers to the Borden tract. I once read most of the material on the early settlement, largely in Frederick Co. VA and as I recall many of the settlers on that land came from Burlington NJ and were Quakers. Opequon was a Quaker settlement. If you're looking for an immigrant to the area from NY or NJ (or even PA), you might have good luck in Quaker materials.

> Around 1732 Jost Hite was instrumental in bringing 140 families to settle in the Opequon area of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Supposedly many of these families were from New York and New Jersey. Does anyone know if there are any lists of the names of the families?
