Just a thought: could seisin be related to our modern concept of  
taking an object, as in 'seizing'?

Could the term livery be an ancestor of our 'delivery'? Obviously this  
could be stretching a point or two, but the similarities seem to be  
there.

Livery of seisin = delivery of possession?
