Anyone looking into Native Americans in VA needs to research the 1823 Race
Law and the 1924 Racial Integrity Law. Also the head of the Va Bureau of Vital
Statistics from 1920s into late 1940s Dr. Walter Plecker and his enforcement of
those laws.

Few Native Americans are listed anywhere as such most are listed as "free
people of color", "mulattoes" or "blacks".

See the Jan 1943 letter from Walter Plecker in the Lib. of VA special
collections.
