Hello Katie,

At the risk of being wrong I would presume that you are referring to
the handfull of postings that I have recently made to the VA-ROOTS
list. (As well as to the Logan Co.WV. mailing list).

I Did this because a great many of the subscribers to the VA-ROOTS
list have interests in several other states as well as Virginia &
I was hoping to reach as many interested researchers as possible.

The mailing lists for Logan Co.WV. & Virginia are a very good way of
getting the transcripts & abstracts to a large number of researchers
quickly while waiting for the more permanent posting to the USGenWeb
Archives.

And lately in many cases, the postings to the USGenWeb Archives has
taken in some cases weeks to be posted, in fact I currently have
USGenWeb submissions more than three weeks old still pending in two
Counties in Kentucky & one County in West Virginia, with most County
postings to Ohio being forced to be sent to the OH-FOOTSTEPS,Which
are not posted to the FTP Directory for any given USGenWeb County
Archives, but are are placed in Digest form in the archives of the
OH-FOOTSTEPS mailing list. At my most recent check a few days ago,
the lastest available OH-FOOTSTEPS mailing list Archives postings
were for February of this year.

With some regret, I also have submissions pending there, But it's a
case of submitting to the OH-FOOTSTEPS list or not at all in most of
the Ohio Counties. I also sent those abstracts out to the Logan &
VA-ROOTS mailing lists, because in most cases these were West Va.
people who at that point in time lived in Ohio, and their family
researchers would not necessarily be subscribed to the OH-FOOTSTEPS
mailing list.

However, I must also point out that most USGenWeb submissions are
posted promptly, and a few are extremely fast. For this I am grateful
& have told the County coordinators so!!

And anyway, when traffic is slow on the list what difference does it
make what State the records originate from and what harm is done??
However if the "non-Virginia" postings upset anyone, I can and will
stop posting them immediately!!

I am a volunteer transcriber with this being only one of my part-time
hobbies, and this could change at any time.

I hope this will explain my reasoning behind the recent posting to
the VA-ROOTS mailing list of "Non-Virginia" records.

Best Regards & God Bless,

Russell L. Lawrence
