Yvonne and Steve, How unfortunately the fire loss to
the LDS Church, etc. is to all parties concerned.
I know I speak for many VA-ROOTS listers when I say how fortunate
we are to have had you in updating these 1790 and 1800 Tax Lists
and will be looking forward to your continuing these updates in
the future.
Many, many thanks and may you have a relaxating summertime.

Subject: No more new updates - "1790" / "1800" County Tax Lists of
Virginia website

We regret to announce the temporary suspension of new material for
our tax list website.

We utilize our local Family History Center for 99% of all our tax
list microfilms. These microfilms have been of adequate quality
and their microfilm copier has been better than most. We have
tried to get interlibrary loan microflims from the LVA but have
learned after several attempts that our local public library
system is not very efficient at this process and we have only
received one order out of five attempts. And that took over 6
months to get. Therefore when we get microfilm copies from the
Library of Virginia it is only because we travelled 650 miles to
go there.

Last Saturday afternoon we made 111 new tax list copies and
ordered 5 new microfilms. A typical experience at the Family
History Center. Last Saturday night the LDS church and the FHC
caught fire and burned to the ground. A total loss. We have tried
a couple of other FHC's within an hour's drive but their microfilm
copiers have not really been adequate. So it appears that we may
be forced to wait for the FHC to rebuild before we can continue.
We hope that our current website content can be adequate for the
time being. Sorry.
