Sharon, you raise some good points about the money
involved in DNA testing and researching the companies before
making an investment makes sense. It made me think of
wolves in sheep's clothing.
What I've learned from what you wrote is that DNA is a science
that provides information (the statistical probabilities) that can
lead to a person's belief that they are related to a certain family in
a given place. On the flip side it can also rule out that you were
not related, thus saving time by not shaking the wrong tree.
As for using a group like the Davidson Project I don't see how
DNA testing would be of any use if it didn't involve comparison
of a pool of some sort. What perplexes me is how the known
information contained in that pool relates back to the unknown
variables of our ancestors. When the results of the living are
compared is it based on the paper research done by those within
the same group also?
You are so right when you stated..."In addition, if we
do not understand what people will do these days to make a
lot of money, we're not paying attention".....Sharon, I'm paying
attention and I'm trying to understand.
Thank you all for for your help in this endeavor.
Blessings, Vicki :)
